Obituary for Robert "Bob" Shirar

Robert "Bob" Shirar, 96, of Indianapolis since 1951, formerly of Frankfort, Burlington and Greentown, went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2018. Bob was born in Washington, IN on November 20, 1921 to the late Emerson and Flossie (Allen) Shirar. Bob married Betty (Dunn) Shirar on July 20, 1947.

Bob was a Truck Driver for Sheets Trucking in Indianapolis for over 50 years and part owner for 30 years before retiring in 1994. Bob purchased his first truck in 1947. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was a proud veteran serving in the Army Air Force, 379th Bomb Group during WWII before being discharged in 1945.

Bob is survived by two sons: Randy (Debbie) Shirar of Mooresville and Dennis (Patty) Shirar of Indianapolis; daughter in law, Sue Ankney; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters: Eva "Jane" Robinson of AZ and Joyce Schutz of Lafayette, IN. Bob is preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Max Shirar; grandson, Adam Shirar; granddaughter in law, Alycia Shirar; brothers: Dana, Gerald, Dale, Pete, twin brothers Ted and Fred, Ed and Charles Shirar; sisters: Evelyn Shirar, Kathleen Achor, Josephine McCoy and Mary Ruth Hord.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 1-3 pm, Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville. Pastor Richard Shirar will officiate the Celebration of Life Service following the visitation at 3 pm. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm, Monday, November 12, 2018 in Whiteman Cemetery in Michigantown, IN.
