Obituary for Phyllis Lavone Robbins (Shields)

Phyllis Lavone (Shields) Robbins, 91, of Monrovia, walked through the gate to take Jesus's hand and join her husband, Eugene Robbins on Thursday, November 7th, 2019. She was born December 1, 1927 in Monrovia to her parents Artie Leroy and Orpha Ann (Downey) Shields. Phyllis married Eugene Randolph "Bus" Robbins on December 1, 1946. She was a lifetime resident of Monrovia.

Phyllis is survived by one daughter; Glenda Ann (Michael) Murphy of Mooresville; two sons, Garry (Pat) Robbins of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Dale (Karen) Robbins of Monrovia; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Phyllis is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Eugene Randolph "Bus" Robbins; and three sisters, June Hunt, Bernice Ratts and Marguerite Ogle.

Phyllis was a graduate of Monrovia High School in 1945. She was a homemaker and a cook in the cafeteria of Monrovia High School for 15 years and retired in 1992. She was also a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church of Hall. Phyllis loved gardening, square dancing, sewing and cooking. She also enjoyed music, flowers and birds. She liked identifying airplanes and especially enjoyed providing hospitality to all.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, November 14th at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church of Hall, 5830 W Hurt Rd, Monrovia IN 46157. Pastor Michael Herzberger will officiate Phyllis's celebration of life service at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning at the church. Phyllis will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall, Indiana.
