Obituary for Opal Cleo Stanley (Hatfield)

Opal Cleo (Hatfield) Stanley, 95, of Mooresville, went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2019 in the presence of family. She was born to John and Addie (Young) Hatfield on January 27, 1924 in LaFollette, TN. She married Toy Arthur Stanley on June 12, 1943.

Opal is survived by four loving children, Ed Stanley of Indianapolis, Jerry (Shirley) Stanley of Camby, Alvin (Cheryl) Stanley of Mooresville and Sue Lewis of Plainfield; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Opal is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Bill and James Stanley; and four sisters, Thelma Hackler, Elsie Hedgecough, Nora Wilson-Thomas and Edith Jackson.

Opal was a Veneer Handler for Thiesings Veneer in Mooresville for 13.5 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Mooresville Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening her flowers and quilting. She loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived in the Camby Mooresville area for most of her life.

Family and friends may show their love and support from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 19th and 9-10 a.m. on Monday, May 20th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. James Hahn will officiate Opal's celebration of life service at 10 a.m on Monday, May 20th at Jones Family Mortuary. She will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
