Monte L. Coate, 83, of Mooresville since 1964 and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away on November 23, 2019 with family by his side. Monte was born in Springfield, OH on June 20, 1936 to the late Raymond and Irene (Hall) Coate. He married Sandy (Allen) Coate on September 17, 1954.

Monte was a 1954 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School; was in the Naval Reserve for 12 years; member of and former District Governor of Toastmasters; pilot for several years and flight instructor at Speedway Airport and he also entertained as a clown and magician.

Monte is survived by his wife; four sons: Jeff Coate of Mooresville, Tom (Deb) Coate of Noblesville, Curt Coate of Mooresville and Doug (Tina) Coate of IA; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and sister, Toni Smith of Indianapolis. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joshua Coate and brother, Larry Coate.

Family and friends may show their love and support during a Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering from 1-5 pm, Monday, December 9, 2019 at Jones Family Mortuary, Mooresville.
