Obituary for Alexander J Ingram

Alexander J. "Alex" Ingram, 96, of Avon, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5th, 2019. He was born March 8th, 1923 in Harrodsburg to the late Irl and Beatrice (Johnson) Ingram. He married Beulah A. (Zike) Ingram on July 14, 1945. He lived in Harrodsburg for 27 years, Long Beach, Indiana for 17 years and had been a resident of the Indianapolis area since 1967.

Alex is survived by his wife of nearly 74 years, Beulah Ingram; two daughters Beatrice "Bea" Tate of Avon, and Carol D. (Donald) Thompson of Avon; six grandchildren, Cheri Fox, Cristopher Tate, Aaron Tate, Stephanie Reed, Craig Thompson, and Jason Thompson; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; one brother, John Ingram of Harrodsburg. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; a daughter, Debbie Owens; a granddaughter, Karen Wilson; three sisters, Mary Ingram, Kathrine Ingram, and Barbara Ingram; and three brothers, Barney Ticen, Bill Ingram, and Robert "Hoss" Ingram.

Alex was a 1941 graduate of Smithville High School and graduated from Indiana University in 1949. He served in the Army during World War II. Alex was a Certified Public Accountant for the Department of Revenue for several years. He was Deputy Auditor and then Deputy Budget Director for the state of Indiana before retiring in 1988. Alex was a member of the American Legion Post #143 in Avon. He was a huge IU alumni and fan, enjoyed golf, painting, fishing and cooking.

Family and Friends may show their love and support from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10th, 2019 and 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, July 11th in Jones Family Mortuary, 4165 East Allison Rd. Mooresville. Pastor Jim Taylor will officiate the celebration of life service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 11th in the funeral home. Alex will be laid to rest in Clover Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, IN.
